The Brisa Apartment, designed by Memola Estúdio, is an architectural marvel that beautifully integrates modern design with functional living spaces. Located in São Paulo, Brazil, this 167 square meter apartment underwent a transformative renovation that reflects the cosmopolitan lifestyle of its owners, a couple who have lived in various cities around the world.
The primary challenge was to reformulate the apartment with minimal discarding of existing structures. The layout changes aimed at integrating the living spaces more effectively. This included transforming one of the bedrooms into an office that is visually connected to the living room yet maintains privacy. The kitchen, previously isolated, was expanded and opened up to the living room to cater to the clients’ love for cooking and social interaction.
Structural alterations were focused around the center of the apartment. Notable changes included the demolition of walls, alteration of wet areas, and integration of the living room with the newly reformed spaces. The apartment’s layout was smartly reorganized – part of the intimate corridor was annexed to the office, and the old pantry was fully incorporated into the redesigned kitchen.
Aesthetic and functional elements were carefully considered in the redesign. The office was encased in fixed glass frames, enhancing natural light flow and creating an interesting visual dynamic. The kitchen features a stainless steel island, balancing industrial elements with a display cabinet made of demolition wood. Throughout the apartment, the use of light-toned tiles, interspersed with burnt yellow accents, adds a youthful energy to the space.
The project also included the careful selection of furniture, including unique pieces from Minas Gerais, Brazil. The bathrooms were delicately revamped with new coatings and cabinet designs, complementing the apartment’s overall aesthetic.
The Brisa Apartment by Memola Estúdio is a testament to the power of thoughtful design in creating a space that is both aesthetically pleasing and deeply functional, reflecting the unique lifestyle and preferences of its inhabitants.
